MEET US

Amanda, remembering my Dad (Robert Smith, age 57) who died August 15, 2007 in a farming accident.

Jen, remembering & cherishing my aunt (Katherine Johanson, age 48), lost June 5, 2009 to breast cancer and my grandma (Marion Finnegan), lost June 21, 2006, also to cancer.
Lisa, remembering my loving and supportive mother, Nettie Hartman, who died on January 31, 2005 from cancer and my dear friend, Cheryl Holzman, who died on April 14, 2008, also from cancer. I miss them both, each and every day. My world just isn't the same without them.
Marti, remembering my beautiful Grandson Quincey who died 5 days after his birth in 2005; and my Grandmother, Genevieve, who lived for 97 wonderful years.
Stacey, remembering my Daddy (Doug Douglass, age 64) who passed away on May 30, 2007, six weeks after being diagnosed with liver cancer.

Tania, remembering Sue Ann Werner (mom, age 50) who died July 19, 2007 suddenly and very unexpectedly from cardiac arrest.

*DOCUMENT A GAME YOU PLAYED TOGETHER*

Whew. Okay. I'm back and finally starting to believe it's possible to get caught up. ;) (For those who are wondering, my husband's grandpa passed away last week (10/27). He'd have been 91 later this month and lived a full life...expect more layouts about him as I find the time. We flew out to WA and had a nice, week-long visit...never "good" to have to travel for a funeral but we managed to make the most of it and see lots of relatives and remember how important it is to do so. (Almost all of both of our extended families live in WA.) We were able to share a bit more of Grandpa Al's story with our boys. Plus, we got to look through some old photo albums...which just makes me so thankful for scrapbooking and documenting our lives. I wish I could tell Grandpa Al thank you for the peek into his life and hope that future generations will appreciate the record I'm building of my own.)

So, without further delay, here's the belated challenge...document a game you played together. Fun, right?

First up is our lovely guest designer, Kaitlin (who also sponsored one of our prizes not long ago...you can check out her shop here...she's got some cool holiday stuff up now). She's scrapbooking about her grandma (whom she called mema).

Next up is me:

Then, Jen:

And Lisa:

And Stacey:

Now. Given the lateness of my posting this, I'm going to do things a little differently this time. Rather than just give you until the 10th to complete this challenge (since that wouldn't really be enough time, now, would it?), I am going to leave this challenge open until the same date as the next challenge. So, the next challenge will be posted on November 15. Since Thanksgiving falls in there, we'll make that challenge...and this one!...due on November 28 (the Saturday after Thanksgiving). Winners of both will be announced on the 29th. Make sense?

Oh, you want to know what the prize is for this challenge? :) Well, AesaLina over at PixiePetals has offered up this beautiful prize:

Fun stuff...and appropriately themed to help you get in the mood for the holidays!

Okay, so, post your projects to this challenge post by November 28...pretty please. :) I'll pick a random winner for this awesome prize at that time. And, as usual, more in-depth looks at the layouts above will follow in the coming days. Thanks for your patience!

I thought I'd try a last-minute effort... It doesn't matter if I don't make the deadline, because more importantly, I wanted to scrap about this particular topic. Then, while I was making this LO, a rerun of Extreme Makeover Home Edition was on TV, featuring this man who had lost his wife to cancer. I was crying throughout his touching eulogy at the memorial service. :(
