"Unfinished" and "Worth Remembering" by Amanda
Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 4:00AM This first layout was actually one of the first I completed after my dad died. I'd been scanning photographs that we'd gathered for his funeral and grew to very much appreciate the writing on the back, not only for the information to be had, but for the story behind it.

This second layout was actually one I finished a month or so before my dad died (it appears in my book, Month by Month Scrapbooking, published by Creating Keepsakes, which I finished up just before my dad's death). Months later when I realized I'd done this, I simply sat and was amazed at how blessed I was to have this:

In a nutshell, it's a note that my dad wrote to me when I was a kid explaining this particular Christmas gift that he was giving me. To this day, it's one of the only Christmas gifts I remember. He passed on his stamp collection to me and took the time to write this note. It's particularly special to me because my dad rarely wrote letters or notes to any of us and often didn't even know what the presents under the tree for us were (though mom put both their names on them). I still have both the note and the collection. :) And now I'm thrilled to have the layout so that my boys will be able to share in this, too. (And I'm completely inspired to go handwrite little letters to each of my boys this Christmas, lol!)

Love both layouts Amanda! I really love the story about the letter and the Christmas gift your father gave you. Those are the best kind of Christmas gifts!
These are great, Amanda. I still smile when I think of the timing of your book release - and how it gave you an opportunity to document some memories of your dad before he passed.
