"My Friend For All Seasons" by Lisa
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 3:00AM Before I continue with our up-close looks at contributor work, might I make a small request of you? If you have a blog or website, won't you please link up the Good Grief Blog on your site? It helps with the search engine schtuff...which will make us easier for more people to find...and that's what we're truly here for. Thanks! :)
Now, without further adieu, here's Lisa's layout and story:

My dear friend, Cheryl, passed away in April 2008, after bravely battling bile duct cancer for 15 months. We met, through scrapbooking of all things, when she was teaching at a local scrapbooking store. We hit it off right away, had a lot of the same interests, and had daughters the same age. We saw each other often...at dance class, at gym class, etc. and made quarterly trips to a scrapbooking store an hour away so we could have some girl time together while shopping for our favorite products.
A few years ago, I created a layout called, “A Forever Friend” about Cheryl and it was based on the living funeral concept from the book, “Tuesdays with Morrie.” You tell people what they mean to you, while they are still alive. At this point, we had no idea what was to come...I am so glad I created this page to look back on and remember the good times and I’m glad I was able to share it with her.
Shortly after Cheryl passed away, I heard Terry Jacks’ song, “Seasons in the Sun” and I knew right then that the lyrics would be perfect on a page about Cheryl. This challenge was the perfect time for me to pull out the card from her funeral and her obituary and get it all down on a page.
My journaling (or lyrics, really) reads:
"Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die, when all the birds are singing in the sky...We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun. But the hills that we climbed were just seasons out of time." From "Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks
As hard as this was to do, I'm very excited to see this all come together and to have a place where it's OK to share these feelings and memories!
(Don't forget that your own projects need to be linked up under the original challenge post, though, okay? To be eligible for the awesome Prism prize, you need to link us up by August 25th.)

I lost my mum unexpectedly 7 years ago, just 2 weeks after my first daughter was born. I have really struggled to cope with this and certainly haven't been able to scrap about my mum much. I'm hoping your challenges will help with this. I've posted a link to you on my blog http://beautifullilysramblings.blogspot.com/

Lisa, I wanted to tell you that not only do I love this layout (such perfect lyrics!) but I love how you incorporated her obituary here as well...making it part of the page and not just a blaring newspaper thing. :) Thanks!
Beautiful LO, Lisa! I liked how you included the obituary/handout ... so often I just keep them because I don't want to throw them away, but they don't 'go' with my LOs. A wonderful tribute to Cheryl.
This is such a beautiful LO, Lisa. And what a wonderful tribute to your dear friend. I'll bet that photo showed just how full of life she was. {{HUGS}}
I am so very happy that I found your site and will be back often. It makes it a little easier to share with people who truly understand some of what you are going through. Thanks so much.
Lisa, what a beautiful tribute!
