"When I See Birds of Paradise I Think of You" by Marti
Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 5:00AM Here's Marti:
My grandmother lived in a little house a few blocks from the beach in Santa Barbara. Her front flower beds contained several Birds of Paradise plants and no matter what time of year I was visiting her, they were in bloom. Whenever I see one of these beautiful flowers, I instantly think of my Grandma. I recently traveled back to Santa Barbara for her funeral. My Dad and I went to lunch at the harbor after her service and I spotted this Bird of Paradise growing near the restaurant. I was so excited to see it. I grabbed my camera and snapped this photo so I could capture and share this memory with my children.

Beautiful LO - love the fun colors. I love seeing seemingly "ordinary" things out & about, how they make me catch my breath ... and smile. :)
This is beautiful, Marti! You captured the tropical feel of the flower perfectly on this page. What a wonderful memory to share.
Very nice - I like the simplicity of this one which does not cause the photo to be lost.
